Sector Strategy

The rail sector has plenty of ambition – we share the Government’s goal of making the UK a global railway leader. The RSG provides a strong, leadership voice for rail supply businesses to make that ambition a reality, and we are working in partnership with the Rail Delivery Group (RDG) to champion the entire rail industry. A successful railway must deliver for its passenger and freight customers, benefiting the whole UK economy.

Maximising the growth potential of the UK rail sector requires a coordinated approach between Government and industry. A wide variety of resources must be harnessed, including education and training, R&D, positioning in overseas markets and supply chain development. Suppliers need to be able to engage with Government with a single, coherent voice in order to position the UK effectively and competitively in the global market, and the sector strategy allows us to do this.

We know we must do more to improve the way we work if we are to transform our industry.
